Simmons Bank Keeps Mental Health Top of Mind for Women’s Athletics at Vanderbilt University
The first annual Stella’s Summit presented by Simmons Bank hosted over 160 female student athletes
Stella Vaughn, the namesake of Stella’s Summit, was one of 10 women enrolled at Vanderbilt University in 1892 and was a champion for women throughout her life. As a pioneer in Vanderbilt women’s athletics, she organized the first women’s basketball team in the fall of 1896. Stella served as a springboard for countless women throughout her lifetime, but she also was the inspiration for the Simmons Bank sponsored annual Stella’s Summit.
The inaugural event took place on campus at Vanderbilt University where 160 female student athletes were able to discuss their mental health. Athletes also heard from United States Olympic Silver Medalist Raven Saunders who is a former collegiate track athlete herself.
Simmons Bank is proud to support these collegiate athletes and prioritize important topics like mental health. Each year, Stella’s Summit will highlight a different topic for female student athletes.
